Overclocking nVidia Graphic Card Guide


Overclocking nVidia graphic card can be quite a hassle. Here is where nVidia Coolbits comes into play. nVidia’s Coolbits overclocking tool is very powerful tool and it can damage your GPU or Graphic Processor Unit if it is used carelessly. It also can void your warranty.

Now that you have been warned about what you are about to do to your nVidia’s graphic card. Let’s go through he steps on how to overclock your nVidia Graphic Card.

The first thing you need to do is to enable “Coolbits”. Click on the “Start menu” then choose “Run”, type “regedit” and click OK.

Scroll down the left-hand window menu that has the label “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\NVIDIACorporation\\Global\\NVTweak”. Click the + button and select “NVTweak”. Right-click on the right-hand menu and choose “New NDWORD Value”. Name this Coolbits and change its value either 3 (for a single card) or 1A (for SLi). Exit the registry.

The next step is to open the “Display Control Panel” and choose “Clock Frequency Settings”. Click “Detect Optimal Frequencies” in order to have Coolbits automatically increase core and memory clock speeds. You can also select specific values using the “sliders” for testing the stability for your graphic card as your next step.
