Computer Accessories

Computer accessories can be either input or output. They allow communication to take place between the user and the computer. Hence the interaction between the user and the computer is possible through the use of these input and output devices. There are primarily 3 characteristics of input and output devices that you (the user) can use:

1. Sending the information to the computer

Example: Keyboard, Mouse and scanner

2. Displaying or transmitting the information onto the computer

Example: Monitor, printer or speaker

3. Communication with other computer in a network

Example: modems and networks

(Bear in mind, connection of both input and output devices takes place at the back of the computer case. Make sure that the power is off whenever you are plugging any device onto the computer in order to avoid damage to the connected device itself)

Any device that we (the user) used to enter information into a computer whether in any kind of format or type is considered as an input device. While any device that is used to display the information onto the computer is considered as the output device.
