What is Computer File Sharing?

Computer File sharing is the enable files for other computer users over the same network. This is of course the administrator who controls the main computer server allow and gives permission for certain files to be shared among other users over the network.

This is also known as peer to peer file sharing where other users can edit anything that is on the file that is shared between them.

Let us start off with a simple guide where file sharing is done over the same Local Area Network (LAN).

Enabling for files to be shared you are well be informed that you are giving permission for other users to view and might as well edit the files that you are sharing with over the network. So make sure that this is the kind of files that you wanted to share with other users. Got it. :)

File sharing involve sharing Folder files. you can do this by 'right-clicking' the folder that you want to share. 'click' on 'Properties'. Choose the tab 'Sharing'. 'Tick on the box' that says 'share this folder on the network'. Click 'OK'. And thats it.

You are now have given the permission for that particlur Folder to be available to anyone who can acces the netowork.

To check whether the Folder is available over the network. Click on the 'Start' menu. Choose 'My Network Places'. You will now see the name of the folder file that you have given the permission for file sharing is now available.
