What is a Computer Keyboard?






A computer keyboard is one of the input device which looks like a typewriter. It allows you (the user) to send information into the computer.

Their main function is to act as a tool for inputting alphanumeric data (as what it looks like the set of keys consist of series of alphabets, numbers as well as symbols). It also act as a way to give instruction to the computer through a series of keystrokes.

There are a variety kinds of keyboards available on the market for a computer. Traditional keyboard have similar style with having escape key, function keys, Alt key, Windows key, Ctrl key, Numeric pad and Cursor movements key.

Newer version nowadays have issues such as 'ergonometric' in order to reduce or prevent stress on the wrist or so called Carpal tunnel syndrome (especially when in the case of typing for very long periods of time).

Other latest version of keyboard also have feature buttons that enable the user to have a multimedia experience while at the same time using the computer to do their work.

As an overall, all keyboards share the same keys for inputting or typing document processing. Gamers tend to prefer special kinds of keyboards that will enable them to play on-line games for long hours.
