How a computer speakers work?

Computer Speakers or multimedia speakers as we call it, are external speakers are usually connected using a stereo jack plug, especially for the computer sound cards. Some of these speakers are able to be connected to the stereo system for better sound quality. While other type of speaker are connected using the USB port. To put it into simple terms, the function of the speakers are similar to those in the stereo system (without the built in radio). Speakers for computer nowadays have built in equalization features for bass and treble. They commonly have a power cord for plugging into the wall socket. The speaker allow the computer user to play audio sounds as give the capability for the user to save them as digital files inside the computer. There are a variety forms of sound files which can be played using the speaker like mpg, mpeg, wav. and ram. Some of which are specified to be able to play onto a specific music program while others can be read and play by the computer using a media player like Winamp and Windows Media Player. There are commonly 2 types of speakers that are sought after in the market for computers. The 2.1 version which have two speakers with one sub-woofer. The other type is 5.1 version which consists of 5 speakers and one sub-woofer. Speakers have also been considered as part of the components for building a Home Entertainment system typically using the hardwares and softwares of the computer system.
