Installing Motherboard to a Computer Case

Before we proceed with the explanation on the guide how to install a motherboard (MOBO), let us introduce to you the function of a motherboard in order to make you life easier in understanding the delicate subject of Motherboard.

The Motherboard (or MOBO as we like to call it) is the largest electronic circuit board in a computer. Meaning, it is the largest computer components that you can see inside a computer.

It is the base foundation of the computer that allow the system to be install together with RAM, CPU and ROM BIOS.

Before you get to the issue of motherboard installation, the first and foremost important thing to do is to make sure that you discharge yourself from any static electricity.

The motherboard lies on the bottom or base of the computer case (depending on which case you are using either a Desktop or a Tower case).

First of all, get all the cables away so that you can put the motherboard in place. There are several holes inside of the computer case that you are going to put the motherboard. Lay down the Motherboard and align the screw holes (positioned at the edge of the motherboard) and mark them with a marker or pencil. Usually the screw holes that you are going to mark consists of 6 screw holes.

The 'Stand off screws' are placed at the 6 points that you mark earlier on the computer case. These stand off screws allow gaps between the motherboard and the computer case in order to avoid any short-circuit when the computer is turn on.

Place the motherboard back to the computer case and align the screw holes to the places where you have screwed the stand off screws earlier. Then screw the 6 holes of the motherboard in place.
