In this Guide, we will explain how installing PCI Wifi Card is done on your computer. Installation is done at the available PCI Slot on your Motherboard.
PCI Wifi Card is used to enable your computer to have a Wifi connection for internet and the ability to communicate with other computers over a network (especially in the format of Wireless Local Area Network or WLAN).
We begin the installation by shutting down the computer. When the computer is off. Remove all the extension cables that is connected to the computer case. Because installing PCI Wifi card requires you to insert the components inside the computer.
This is an absolute reminder!! Discharge yourself from any static electricity so that it would not damage any components that you are going to install.
When all of the cables are removed. Open the computer's case by removing the side panel. This will reveal the inside of the computer.
Look inside the Motherboard and start to look for the PCI slot that is available for you to insert the PCI Wifi Card.
When you have identified which PCI slot that you are going to put the PCI Wifi Card, carefully unscrew the metal plate near the PCI slot where you are going for the installation.
After the metal plate is removed, carefully align the PCI Wifi Card on the PCI slot and insert it firmly into place. You will know when you have insert it correctly when it is correctly align with the area where you have just remove the metal plate earlier.
Then insert the screw in place into the hole which have the metal part that connect the PCI Wifi card.
Put the side panel back on the computer case and connect the cables that you have removed earlier in the beginning of this guide. When all of this is done. Turn the Computer on.
Now comes the part where your computer identifies the 'newly installed hardware' which is the PCI Wifi card that you have installed earlier.
The Windows program would automatically detect the 'new' hardware . It will request the installation files needed for the 'new' hardware to run.
Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM (the CD usually is provided when you bought the PCI Wifi Card). Basically the program install the files known as the 'hardware driver' needed for the hardware to run.
To check whether your PCI Wifi card is correctly install on your computer system. Try to connect over the 'network connections' on your Windows program and enable the Wireless Connection.
When you are connected to a network, that will indicate that you have successfully install a fully functional Wireless connection for your computer system. Congratulation's!!!!
