PC to TV guide: How is it done?




Here is one of the popular trend nowadays where connecting the PC to TV in order to display a larger image for better viewing satisfaction.

Since the computer or personal computer (PC) is a medium where you can connect almost anything electronically.

Why not connect it to the television, as we are much more comfortable in viewing images, pictures and even movies on the television screen.

Now, we have bigger and better quality television and devices that can project the display from our PC or laptop.

Flat screen television, Projectors, LCD TV, Plasma TV are the latest rave that comes to our attention. Imagine the potential of our computer or laptop being projected onto these kind of multimedia devices.

Enough with the chat, lets get down to the actual guide in handling the connection between your computer to the television (it can also be applied to other multimedia devices).


First Step:

Identify the sockets or ports that can be used for this operation. What you need to look? There are commonly three ways where you can do PC to TV connection. Below are pictures what these sockets or ports would look like:


1. RCA (Composite, Audio, HDTV Components) Socket.


2. S-Video Socket.


3. VGA port.


We advise you to choose only one type of connection for PC to TV.


Second Step:

Make sure that the television or the multimedia device that you are going for this type of connection have the similar kind or ports and sockets.

They are usually found at the back of these devices.


Third Step:

After you have done step one and two, you can choose which kind of cable that is needed to connect your PC to the television.

You can either use one of the cables below according to the type of connection that you have chosen:


1.RCA (Composite, Audio, HDTV Components) cable.

2. S-Video Cable.

3. VGA Cable.

Fourth Step:

Connect the cables from your PC to the television. Restart your computer or laptop (click on the 'Start' menu button and select 'Turn Off', and on the turn off menu select 'Restart' button). This is to enable the computer system to detect the connection that you have made.


Fifth Step:

After the cable is connected from your PC to your Television. On your computer / laptop.

Click 'Start' menu button -> select 'Control Panel' -> Double click on the 'Display' icon -> on the Display Properties menu, select 'Setting' tab -> Click the 'Monitor icon' (identified with the number 2 on the monitor image) which represents the monitor you want to use in addition to your primary monitor -> select the check box 'Extend my Windows Desktop onto this Monitor'.

Final Step:

Enjoy the view of your desktop images from your computer or laptop on your TV. Congratulations! you have now graduated as an expert in connecting your PC to your Television!! :)
