There are 6 main rules that you need to remember for safe internet browsing. Rule #1: Do Not Open Unknown E-mail Attachment Files.
Do not trust any attachment files that are given to you via e-mail. Unless you know who sent the email or from where exactly the file comes from. Unexpected attachment files on e-mail are usually made up of machine generated payloads that are designed to encourage weak minded user to click on such attachment files. Be smart, always know the people who send you your e-mails and do not trust unknown e-mails. Rule #2: Do Not use a Default Internet Software Browser.
The most common internet software browser used todays is Internet Explorer and Safari (for Mac user). Since the vast number of internet user are using the same internet software, the software itself has become the target for exploitation such as pop-ups, adware, malware and even spyware. Switch to an optional internet browser such as Firefox Mozilla in order to reduce such risk.
Rule #3: Trust Nobody!
You receive dozens of e-mail that tells you about free products and merchandise on the internet. An offer that is too good to be true would be certainly is in this nature of internet browsing. In our experience, there is always a catch in every offer presented to us, and it may cost a whole lot of your expenses if you comply to such offer. Rule #4: Know The URLs
Be sure to pay attention to the website and emails that you click on while browsing the internet. It may appear that they came from official legit institutions that provide professional aid and even offer you great deals. Be sure where the URLs are originated from. It may come to a surprise that these URLs are actually from places that you may unheard of. Let us remind you again, Pay Attention to the URLs. Rule #5: Identify Mistaken Spellings since Criminals are Bad Spellers.
Having a safe internet browsing experience does not mean that you can safely surf the net on and on. Be aware of website that may look professional but in reality may seek to get you to click and buy their products instantly. If you ever come to a phishing site, pay attention to how they present themselves, identify mistaken grammar and spelling problems that the site may have. Trust your instinct before you provide your information to the site. And finally Rule #6: Think Before you Click
Phishers tend to seek your personal information for their own personal gain. Some use porn and warez site to get new information and infect your computer with malware and spyware. Do not install any software that these sites provide. Do not even give your personal information to such site unless you have done a background check up upon the site itself.
